At the Thomayer University Hospital, the lighting and heating upgrades in twenty pavilions, including the insulation of seven of them, will be completed in the autumn of 2023, with full operation. The hospital's largest modernization project in 50 years will reduce energy costs by CZK 7 million annually. The hospital is contractually guaranteed for five years by the contractor, which is a consortium of ENESA from ČEZ ESCO holding and Metrostav. The annual amount of energy savings corresponds to 2,500 tonnes of CO2. The project was also praised by the Minister of Health Vlastimil Válek during his visit.
Half of the savings came from replacing the lighting with energy-saving LED luminaires, which consume only 40% of the energy compared to previous types. The installation of an advanced system of individual room heating control (IRC) according to the type or time of use is crucial for thermal comfort.
